Code Geass the review

As you can see I decided to do a review of the smoking hot Code Geass Season 1 not the second season as I have only seen 4 episodes so I wont be doing that anytime soon. Well I wouldn’t say anytime soon because I cant stay away from something that I start its a bad habit or good habit but when I start a series I have to finish it unless I forget about it I am looking at you Kanokon. Also we will soon be having a forum on the site so you guys can do whatever you guys do in forums. If you guys want to contact me with Hate mail, Love mail, Review suggestions, or whatever you guys want to message me with just send it to katimusha@animreviewed.info . I already know that no one is actually going to use that email but still you could try to prove me wrong and send me some request or something. Well  I guess its time for the Code Geass description or summary whichever you want to call it but here we go.

5807l Code Geass the review

After the invasion of Japan by the Brittannian Empire, the country is renamed to “Area 11″. The young Lelouch, a Brittannian student living in Japan, accidentally gets caught up in a local terrorist attack against Brittannia, reuniting with his childhood friend Suzaku as well as meeting the mysterious girl C.C. Cornered in a life and death situation, Lelouch accepts a power C.C. offers to him, the ability to order anyone to do anything. Harboring a thirst for revenge against the Brittanian Empire for their actions against his family, Lelouch wages war against the Empire. Using his newfound power and tactical ability, Lelouch goes under the alias Zero in attempts to fulfill his childhood vow, to destroy Brittannia! Tada there you go straight from ANN your little description/summary of what Code Geass is all about. Next is the review for you guys since that is why you guys are actually reading this for so enjoy.

2 Code Geass the review

Code Geass is sorta a cross between Gundam and Death note in its own strange strange way where Lelouch uses the nightmares”Mechs” like chess pieces to defeat his enemies. One way its similar to Deathnote is the main character has a unique ability to make anyone do any order with eye contact with his Geass which is what they call the ability. Also the series has the whole death note way of making you think Lelouch is right even if he is doing things that are negative. Lelouch is the kira for Code Geass and Suzaku is sorta like the L since he stands for the other way of thinking. Enough comparing Death Note and Code Geass since they are different shows and that is about the only similarities I can think of at the moment. One other good thing about the show is the animation is done by Clamp which is the group that did the animation for several popular anime that I do not want to mention right now. I give Code Geass a 4.5 out of 5 because its one of those anime that make you think and the fight scenes arent too bad either. I do suggest watching it since its a very unique series and you should check it out and see just why its so popular right now. Here you go a link to the first episode since I am a nice guy but remember to support bandai since they own the rights to it right now code geass 1 part 1, and part 2 sorry no megavideo only youtube sorry everyone once again.

D Gray-Man review

Okay no fancy titles or stupid catch phrases today because I couldn’t think of a single thing I can never forgive myself okay I just did but you will never forgive me. As you can see I decided not to do one of those lovey dovey anime like I originally was going to do because I felt like having some more action in my diet. I decided to do a review of a series that I am currently watching at the moment because no one has done a review for it yet. I also decided to do a review of D gray-man because Funimation has recently acquired the license for it expect it to come to America sometime in 2009. So I guess I congratulate Funimation on getting the closest thing to Full Metal Alchemist they could get so good for them. Yes Finn its like your favorite show sorta not really but its the closest match that there possibly could be. Okay just to let you guys know I was lucky I saved this because FireFox decided to close all the programs because its a d bag yep I am looking at you FireFox 3 stop screwing up everything I try to do. Well I better hurry up and get to the description/summary what ever you want to call it because now I’m afraid FireFox is out to get me.

d-gray-man D Gray-Man review

Towards the end of the 19th century, Allen Walker officially joins the organization of Exorcists that destroy the beings known as Akuma; mechanic weapons made by the Millienium Earl with the suffering souls of the dead. Allen has both a cursed eye and an anti-Akuma weapon as an arm, bearing the power of “Innocence”, a gift given to him as an apostle of God. Allen, along with his fellow Exorcists must put a stop to the Milleniuum Earl’s ultimate plot that could lead to the destruction of the world and all who live on it. Basically bad guy wants to destroy humanity and the only ones who can stop him are the exorcists dum dum dum okay that was stupid so lets not do that again. lets see just how my review turns out for Allen walker and his exorcist buddies.

d-gray-man1 D Gray-Man review

At first I didn’t think D Gray-man would be that good I mean just look at the name of the show D Gray-Man but then again Bleach is a strange name also but still D Gray-Man is weirder. Well I was pleasantly surprised when the series was actually pretty good it has a interesting mix of action and comedy that is unique to the series. The characters are also pretty interesting as well ranging from annoying to cool hell even the annoying characters grow on you like Komui who is the biggest dumb ass I have seen in a while. The series is also surprisingly dark for a Shonen Jump anime because almost any non main character dies in some way because they have signs that say kill me I am not a main character hanging around their necks. Okay not every non main character will die some just see their loved ones die or something like that but sometimes nothing bad happens to them at all. The main character Allen Walker is like a kind hearted Ed Elric from Full Metal Alchemist who doesn’t complain about being called short and what not. I give D Gray-Man a 4 out of 5 but it is one of my personal favorites at the moment so give it a look because its not bad at all. Here is a link to the first episode of the anime if you want to check it out D Gray Man 1,2,3 they might not overlap correctly so sorry about that blame the uploaders. Also since I have been forgetting to tell you you can message me at Katimusha@animereviewed.info so you can let me know what you think about my reviews or you could suggest a anime for me to review its your choice. Well till next time I hope you guys enjoyed the review and I guess I will see you next time.

Hellsing Ultimate: The Ultimate Review?

Well today I decided to do a review that is the opposite of what I have been reviewing. For some odd reason I have been doing reviews of anime with very little action so I decided to change that. What has tons of action and is the opposite of what I have been reviewing: well of course it is: Hellsing Ultimate so that is why I chose Hellsing Ultimate. I also wanted to review it because I needed a break from all the romance and Hellsing Ultimate has about as much romance as well nothings coming to mind but it has none. While I think about it you guys should let us know what type of features you want for the site. I will try and discuss what you guys want with the others and maybe if you are very lucky you might receive a early Christmas present. I think its about time for me to get around to actually telling you what Hellsing Ultimate is about if you didn’t already know, if you just want to read the review skip this next part.

hellsing1 Hellsing Ultimate: The Ultimate Review?

Hellsing, a secret organization of the British government, have long been battling supernatural threats to keep the people safe from creatures of the night. The current leader, Integra Wingates Hellsing controls her own personal army to eliminate the undead beings, but even her highly trained soldiers pale in comparison to her most trusted vampire exterminator, a man by the name of Alucard, who is actually a powerful vampire himself. Along with Integra’s mysterious butler and Alucard’s new vampire minion, Seras Victoria, The Hellsing Organization must face not only regular ghouls and vampires, but a rivaling secret organization from the Vatican, and Millennium, an enigmatic group of madmen spawned by a certain war over 50 years ago… in other words a bad ass vampire kill lots of people, especially Nazi vampires, so onward I say to the review where I make many fan boys cry or something like that.

hellsing-ultimate Hellsing Ultimate: The Ultimate Review?

I wonder how many of you actually skipped the last part. The reason I wonder is do people actually take my advice because I swear people do the exact opposite of what I say but I don’t care. I actually hope you didn’t skip it because I forgot to mention the summary came from ANN which all of the summaries I make come from them these days. Okay the reason I like this anime is I guess the violence that this show has.  By violence I mean explosions, ghouls, exploding body parts, and other unmentionable acts that could scar children for life. Well Hellsing Ultimate is for those people who have add pretty much because there is almost never a dull moment well there are but they are decent dull moments right before a bunch of deaths. Theres really no way to tell just how many people die in Hellsing Ultimate and if you count all the dead bodies you should let me know because that would be entertaining because it will be a huge number. Hell the first episode alone has tons of death and destruction so it certainly keeps my attention. If you have watched the first Hellsing series things don’t get different till the second or third episode of Ultimate where some interesting badies pop up. It is actually interesting to watch the vampire fights in Ultimate they seem more unique in Ultimate than the original series. Overall, I give Hellsing Ultimate a 4.5 out of 5 because watching this show surely wakes me up and interested. Here is a link to the first episode I advise you to not let small children watch this because it definitely isn’t for the wee ones Hellsing Ultimate. There is a dub out there if you can find it, since Geneon sorta went belly up recently. Its going to be hard to find so happy hunting. Yes I know this was definitely not the ultimate review but I thought the name sounded pretty nice in my head so don’t complain too much.

Spice and Wolf Review: Wolfy Spice

Ok its that time of the day when you say to yourself gosh I really want to read a anime review well guess what I have just what you need a sparkling new anime review. I am glad that theres some people out there who read this for whatever reason they have to read this. So at the moment we are thinking about planing on getting a forum for the site because whats a site without a forum what do you guys think. Once again you can contact me at Katimusha@animereviewed.info because you can request a anime series for me to review so the choice is yours. If you look closely at the title of today’s review you can tell I couldnt think of a thing to write for a name because wolfy Spice is a lame name. I think that’s enough small talk for now lets get down to a what Spice and wolf is all about.

Spice and Wolf

The peddler Kraft Lawrence travels through the world selling all kinds
of things. After visiting a village he discovers a sleeping girl under
the hay. She has wolf ears and a tail. The wolf girl explains that she
has been called a “God” but her name really is Horo and nothing else.
Lawrence teases the girl a little, but after hearing more of her story
is moved and decides to accompany her further north. On their travels
the two have all sorts of adventures & often get into trouble but
slowly the bond between them grows stronger. Source ANN yay once again I think that I should let credit go to where it is due because I am such a nice guy and all. Onward to the review I say because I dont feel like staying in one place for too long today because I plan on getting some food after this and I am very hungry right now.

Spice and Wolf 2

Finally its time to review Spice and Wolf which I actually enjoyed even though there’s almost no action and there’s no comedy. The lack of the two makes me wonder why I like it but then again maybe its because there’s a wolf god in the show. Okay the real interesting thing is Horo’s attitude since she is a know it all and likes to brag about it. Its also interesting to see how they get out of the sticky situations they end up getting in. The only other complaint other than the no action and comedy is it is too short yes it is short it is only 12 episodes plus episode 7 which is a Ova which comes with the DVD. I actually wanted to see more of this anime but since there’s not more I am disappointed. I give Spice and wolf a 3.5 out of 5 since its sorta slow and boring at parts and its tooooo short I want more Spice and Wolf than the 13 episodes including the Ova. I do suggest you watch it because you might like it as well and just to let you know anything I give a 3 or higher to you should watch. However if I give it a 1 or a 2 you might want to be careful since it might not be good. The only thing is you might like something I don’t like so we would have a difference in opinion. I do highly recommend this series if you want something a bit more laid back than your usual cup of tea. Heres a link to the first episode watch it and and decide for yourself Spice and Wolf 1 and let me know what you think. I might be under scoring it so let me know whether or not you think I should raise the score for Spice and Wolf. Make sure to either comment or email me your decision on what you think.

Zero No Tsukaima review: Fear the Zero

Hey everybody I hope you had a nice break from reading these reviews of mine because I sure enjoyed the break. Yep I did nothing for a whole day so I feel relaxed and energized so you better enjoy or else I blow you up with my magical abilities because I can. What you don’t believe me well damn it seems you called by bluff you can go ahead and not enjoy it but you will be lying to yourselves and you know it. Still nobody has posted any comments do you hate me or something well if you did let me know same if you like my reviews. Well if you want to contact me email me at katimusha@animereviewed.info and you can find me on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/bankai_trey so give me a shout out on myspace if you want. Okay I think its about time to get on with the show so here is what Zero No Tsukaima is about.

zero-1 Zero No Tsukaima review: Fear the Zero

Louise is a magician at the Tristein Academy, dubbed with the nickname “Zero Louise” due to her inability to effectively use her magic properly, resulting in zero successes. An upcoming test at her academy requires her to summon a familiar, a servant and partner to support her as a magician. Despite desiring a familiar that would be superior to her constantly mocking classmates, Louise ends up summoning Hiraga Saito, your average Japanese boy. Even with Louise and Saito both unwilling to accept each other, they have no choice. Louise cannot attempt another summoning and Saito cannot return to Japan, and so their life together begins.Source: ANN as usual since I dont feel like going on and on and keeping you good people from your internet porn and stuff. So onward my fellow people to the actual review of Zero No Tsukaima and dont worry your internet porn is probably still going to be there when you get back.

zero-3 Zero No Tsukaima review: Fear the Zero

Now is the fun part where I write about meaningless stuff and you guys read it and ignore me wait a sec this actually the part where I review some anime. Today I am reviewing Zero No Tsukaima which is another one of those anime that I wouldn’t normally watch. Why I wouldn’t normally watch it you ask ok so you aren’t asking but pretend to ask and here is my answer its basically a harem anime. Well officially it isn’t a harem anime but at first looks I thought it might and that alone makes me stay away. Okay so I don’t ever take my own advice for some reason just look at my last review which at first glance looks 100% Harem in fact the series itself says it. However there is something unique about Zero no Tsukaima which from now on I’m just going to call it zero because typing the whole name is troublesome. So zero is unique in the fact that it has some action in it that actually surprised me slightly. I don’t know why but watching Zero made me think of harry potter but why you ask thats because it takes place at a magic academy sounds similar doesnt it. The real unique thing is the main character I guess and how at first hes a normal guy cast down in a world of magic where he has no magic what so ever. I know when I think about it this anime is full of cliches from other magic academy style anime but this one actually entertains me. Ok basically the main character is a massacist since he seems to get beat up by Louise who enjoys beating him for almost any reason she can think of. Well for the most part the show is funny and there are some action scenes but mostly in the second season but the first is alright as well. I give Zero a 4 out of 5 because it keeps my attention with all the pretty colors and the explosions. Ok I really don’t know what to say about the series really because the only words that want to come out is unique but its not really unique so im so confused. Ok so you have to watch it for yourself and for some reason I am slightly addicted to it but once again I dont know why it really doesnt appeal to me but I like it anyways. Well you should check out at least one episode because it might be what you are interested in so enjoy or not its really up to you. Here if you want to check it out here is a link Zero No Tsukaima Episode 1 tada like magic a link that lets you see moving pictures.

Clannad review: Revenge of the Starfish Master!

Holy crap the title is somewhat different from my other reviews oh yeah I decided to add something to it to make me laugh to myself every time I look at it because The Starfish Master = Awesome and funny at the same time. Dont worry I wont spoil anything for you but the Starfish Master pops up later in the series so this will be last time I mention the spectacular Starfish Master. Okay now that I got that strange urge to write nonsense out of the way I guess I can say without a reasonable doubt this is going to be a interesting review. Actually this is just filler before I give you the summary of what the story is about so I am talking about some random stuff. So while I am the topic of whatever I feel like has anyone played Metal Gear Solid 4 and if so how was it because I am hearing some interesting remarks about it. Now I am officially done with my Rambling so I guess its time to rock so everyone lets go and read us a summary of Clannad.

clannad-girls Clannad review: Revenge of the Starfish Master!

Tomoya Okazaki is a third year student labelled as a delinquent. Everything seems to be unchanging for his school life until he meets Nagisa, and Tomoya finds that his life is about to change. He starts to have dreams of a bleak world and meets a girl who has the ability to fuse junk together in order to create things, and doing so, creates a body out of junk for him. He is then reborn into this empty world and follows around the girl, the only two existences who are “alive”. (Source: ANN) yep ANN once again I guess I must be getting lazy but I cant help but copy and paste since I tend to take tooooooo long in summarizing anything basically I end up giving a detailed step by step summary of the entire episode which not only is long but it spoils the entire episode so this is better. There is one thing that really is confusing during the entire series not just the 1st episode is the junk robot thing I mean I am still confused ?????? How am I supposed to know what the hell it has to do with the story on the first episode seriously that just bugs me a lot.

tomoya Clannad review: Revenge of the Starfish Master!

Clannad is a very unique anime that has come from a dating sim because its not just romance but there is fantasy and quite a lot of comedy. What makes me like the series is the comedy yep I watched this entire series because I enjoyed the off the wall comedy that this series contains. Most of the comedy involves Tomoya Okazaki and his attitude to all the characters of the series. Like on the first episode where Sunohara the guy that Tomoya hangs out with was talking about fighting the rugby team and what Tomoya’s reaction was. Another really funny thing is how he interacts with Fuko a girl who seems to like starfish a little too much. Clannad isnt all fun and games however there is a lot of crying and sadness involved with this anime so dont expect all laughs when you watch this anime. Also there is about no action unless you count Sunohara getting his ass kicked by some girls which entertains me for some odd way. I really dont know why but watching Sunohara get beat up by girls, guys, and bears is funny too me for reasons that are beyond my control. You might be asking yourself what about the girls of the series well if you ever seen a anime based on a dating sim there you go just copy and paste and presto instant Harem. Theres the shy girl who wants to open the theatre club, The Jock, The shy fortune teller girl, The bookworm, the ghost, and the martial arts chick am I missing anything. At least theres no robot girl who shows up or some other strange clitche pop up in this anime like some other dating sim harem style anime. Lets see here I guess I have to give Clannad a 4 out of 5 its good but certainly not the best and the series itself gets a 4.5 because the jokes keep on rolling even till the last episode. I do have one thing why does my computer not know what clitche mean I seriously had trouble figuring out if I spelled it right but what ever my computer sucks. I suggest you watch the first episode and if its for you continue watching and if it isn’t well its time to find something else that you do like. I hope you enjoyed this review of Clannad which I usually do the first episode only I decided everything I watch past 5 episode doesn’t get a 1st episode in the title since I spoil and talk about later episodes on accident. Make sure to comment because it lets me know there are people who actually read this beside the people working on the site. I just had to put that last picture on here its just another entertaining sunohara moment.

Welcome to The NHK Episode 1 Review

Ok I am back without a vengeance and ready to review Welcome to the NHK also known as NHK ni Youkoso! if you wanted to know that tidbit of info. I hope you guys enjoyed my last review about Macross Frontier episode 1 because if you did you will at least mildly enjoy this review. Oh yeah if you have any anime you want reviewed you can email me at dragonmasterz2003@yahoo.com because I would like to see what my readers like. Well you aren’t really my readers more like the sites readers but I claim you as my own because I’m good like that. You guys also need to post comments on the site since I am the only one that comments anything and I feel so lonely being the only one so come on guys and girls comment and join the cool crowd. Also you can check out my myspace at myspace.com/bankai_trey make sure to give me a shout out if you are ever on myspace. Okay its about time I give you guys the summary of what the series is about because this is supposed to be a review but so far theres no review which is no good at all.

the cast of misfits

Welcome to the NHK is about Satou Tatsuhiro, 22 years old, thinks that everything that happen around him is a conspiracy. He even figured out who is behind it all: The NHK, an evil secret company. “When you think anime, you think Otaku. When you think Otaku, you think people that dislike other people. Those people become Hikikomori (people who shut themselves in)”. So Satou manages to uncover the plot of The NHK (stands for Nihon Hikikomori Kyokai), after three years of shutting himself in (and rapidly approaching the fourth). In reality, he is nothing more then a NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), desperately in need of a cure from that “disease”. He wants to break out from the curse, but going out and getting a job is frightening enough for him. That is until he gets selected for a “project”; it is a plan to help Hikikomori like him in facing the reality of this world. Source: ANN yep most of this was copy pasted from my favorite anime news site Anime News Network.

nhk Welcome to The NHK Episode 1 Review

Now I think its time to get down to the review because why else would you be reading this masterpiece which has taken me about 10 minutes to write. Honestly, I really enjoyed this anime in both dub and sub in fact the dub is actually really good so you should watch the adv dub since it is wonderfully awesome to the extreme. The story is actually quite unique since the main character Satou is basically a recluse and doesn’t want to leave the house because he believes theres a conspiracy that makes him a Hikikomori that conspiracy is being created by the sinister NHK. Satou is really unique because of his hallucination’s where his furniture actually talk to him and the fact is over time he gets into some really weird misadventures. He is the target of a mysterious girl who wants to help him get over his Hikikomori ways. Whats really entertaining is there really are people suffering from the Hikikomori syndrome which I wasn’t aware of until I watched this anime. Okay the first episode is pretty odd but the series overall is actually really good but I give the first episode 3.5 out of 5. I thought I should let you all know that I give the series as a whole a 5 out of 5 because it is actually pretty good. Also who says anime cant be educational because this series taught me stuff I really never really cared about but so did school so Welcome to the NHK = School wait I think my math is slightly wrong here because that would be pretty weird but interesting none the less. You know what looking over this and I talked about nothing most of this time but if you read this I bet you are wanting your money back but too bad im keeping your money muhahahaha “Evil Laugh”.

omg-my-hand Welcome to The NHK Episode 1 Review

Darker Than Black: Black and Blacker

When Hell’s Gate appeared in Tokyo the earth’s atmosphere became so thick that you could no longer see
the stars and moon. At that time new stars appeared in the sky each linked to a single person somewhere
on earth. These people became known as contractors and they developed frightening superhuman powers.
The japanese government abandoned the area around Hell’s Gate and stopped research on contractors after
a terrible accident occurred in the jungles of South America leaving the place to an organization called Pandora. Now many contractors that are working for various governments and organizations have gathered in Tokyo to wage a secret war.

dtb3 Darker Than Black: Black and Blacker

The most interesting aspect of this anime has got to be the powers of the contractors which are extremely
varied. The powers are linked to a specific star and so contractors are known by their Messier Catalogue number. The main character Hei’s number is BK-201. When a contractor dies the star falls from the sky. Some contractors, like Hei, have devastating combat powers. There are several that can create explosions and others who can harness fire or ice. Some contractors powers seem to be of a more supplementary nature like one contractor who can create rain clouds. Each contractors individual ability requires a payment to use that usually takes the form of a habit developed before they became contractors. Hei must eat huge amounts of food to recharge his powers. In general the more that the power defies the laws of nature the more extreme the cost of using it.

dtb1 Darker Than Black: Black and Blacker

Hei is a skilled contractor working for a shady chinese syndicate. His power is the ability to generate electricity. Together with his partner who happens to have the body of a black cat they work on various covert operation including assassination. This series is action packed from the start as contractors seem to fight almost every time they encounter another one, and most fights end fatally. The characters are fairly dynamic each with a mysterious back story, especially Hei. There is some comedy, but this anime is primarily action oriented. The plot is complex and engrossing with many unexpected twists leaving you wondering who the real villains are. In this anime there is no black and white definition of good or evil. The hero is a murdering fiend and the villains often have the best interest of humanity in mind. So in this anime there is no black or white morality, or even shades of grey, only black and blacker.

Macross Frontier Episode 1 Review

Okay first things first I think I should introduce myself before I begin with the review my name is Trey and I will be doing some reviews for Anime Reviewed. I may not do reviews like the other reviewers here and I might not be as skilled as the others but I hope you will adjust to my unique style. Alright my reviews are on a scale of 1-5 1 being stay away at all costs and 5 being a masterpiece but not much deserves a 5 but trust me theres definitely some stuff that are at the other spectrum. Now that I have that little bit of business out of the way I guess I can begin with the review so enjoy yourselves.

macross-frontier-1 Macross Frontier Episode 1 Review

My first review here will be Macross Frontier but if you are reading this you already know that since it tells it in the title. I will only review the first episode of the series so you could say this is like a appetizer for the rest of the series. Here is the basics of what Macross Frontier is about; Macross Frontier follows the lives of Alto Saotome, Ranka Lee and a pop idol named Sheryl Nome on board the Macross Frontier colonization fleet. After the war against the Zentradi aliens, Humankind has spread across the universe in order to ensure its survival. The Macross Frontier fleet is part of a effort to spread and maintain the culture of humanity.

Alto Saotome

The main character of Macross Frontier is Alto Saotome who has very girlish features and that is why everyone calls him Princess even if he doesn’t act girly at all. He is definitely different from all the other macross protagonists. This show starts off a little slow but the action definitely starts to heat up by episode 7 but my review is of episode 1 which introduces you to the assorted cast of characters. Dont worry if you are a action junkie like me the first episode does have its fair share of action. In my opinion Macross Frontier is one of the best Macross series that have shown up in a while. So if you like Giant Robots fighting Giant alien bugs you would definitely enjoy this show. I personally enjoyed this show but you might not so don’t take my opinion over yours and I would always like to know what you think of Macross Frontier. I thought I would let you guys know this before I give it my score so I wouldn’t have to deal with hordes of people who hate Macross. Dont worry though Macross Frontier is not all action there is a love story unfolding sorta its hard to tell from the first episode but check it out anyways. I give Macross Frontier a 4.5 out of 5 but I enjoy it because I am not only a action junkie but I enjoy watching giant robots duke it out in space. Wow when I previewed this I realized that this Review even though only 1/3 of this was actually a review took up quite a bit of room I feel so proud….. Sorta….. Ok not really but I hope you enjoyed reading this otherwise why are you reading this right now.

macross-frontier-3 Macross Frontier Episode 1 Review

Claymore: Badass Chicks with Big Swords

Let me start of by saying that I did enjoy the anime for the series. I am aware there is an ongoing manga. I just don’t have the time to read as much anymore. From what I’ve heard the manga and anime differ after the 20th anime episode.

Claymore is set in an alternate world, very much medieval in fashion. Evil humanoid creatures called Yoma feast on human innards. Yoma have the ability to morph into their human victims, capturing their memories as well as their physical form. They appear to be all male.

Now that brings me to the Claymores. They are a faction of half Yoma, half female human warriors known for their silver eyes and huge broadswords. Claymores are dispatched by the “Organization” to villages plagued by Yoma. Claymores have the ability to “sniff out” and kill the Yoma. Claymores can easily determine Yoma from human, once the Yoma have disguised themselves. Claymores each have an unique rank and an insignia. Rank being 1(strongest)-47(weakest). Humans commonly refer to them as “silver eyed witches.”

Claymore Ranks

Yoki, Yoma life energy flows through the veins of both Claymores and Yomas. Claymores have the ability to control the release of their Yoki granting them powers. However, once a Claymore’s Yoki is released beyond 80% they run the risk of “awakening” into a Yoma monster called an Awakened Being. When this happens, the Yoma aspect becomes dominant, and the Claymore morphs into an Awakened Being. It is not generally thought that an awakened Claymore can revert. However, during the course of the anime/manga, it is discovered that this is possible, though risky. The organization continues to deny this, even though they make use of it.

Now this brings me to the start anime. We are quickly introduced to Clare, sent to dispatch a Yoma. Right away we can see how unpopular Claymores are with humans. As Clare is walking into the village, humans stare at her and quickly shut their doors and windows.

Clare

The next character we are introduced to is Raki, young boy. He is quite a whiny little bitch at this time. Though we are made to feel sorry for him, once we find out his parents were killed by a Yoma. Even worse when Raki’s brother turns out to be the town’s Yoma.

Right off I decided the soundtrack for Claymore is good. Filled with emotional and strong tunes. Not to fail to mention the opening song gets stuck in my head with each episode.

Raki is kicked out the village due to his brother being the Yoma. He manages to track Clare down but passes out due to exhaustion. He awakens in an inn in a town called Egon. Raki, starts to hunt for Clare. He is informed by a villager? that a Claymore was looking for him and could be found in the forest outside of town.

A Yoma disguised as Clare quickly descends upon Raki. Within moments Clare comes to his rescue. The Yoma is dispatched. We find out Claymores have various healing abilities.

So the first episode ends with Clare having some flashbacks brought on by Raki. I can’t say the first episode is what got me hooked. It isn’t until we are introduced to Teresa of the Faint Smile (in the 3rd episode) that I truly become hooked by this anime.

The anime spans just 26 episodes. I hear it will be released officially in North America Fall 2008. Its not hard to find the series on sites like megavideo.com.

I do intend to continue on with Claymore by reading the manga. Its hard to forget the many characters introduced throughout this series.

I give the anime 8/10 (even though you can predict what will happen near the end. )
